Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive modality used in the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
Stemming from the knowledge that sound waves could be used to break down gallstones and kidney stones, therapeutic shockwave is now used in clinic to transmit low energy sound waves through an area of injury, stimulating the body’s natural healing response.
Essentially, the head of the Shockwave transducer contains a percussive instrument that oscillates, producing a sound wave. These sound waves in turn cause microtrauma within the chronically injured tissue, thus stimulating an inflammatory response and increased circulation, which are required for the promotion of tissue regeneration.
Many of our clients report a reduction in their pain and an improvement in mobility after their first treatment!
Shockwave Therapy coupled with a good stretch and strength routine are highly effective in the rehabilitation of chronic injuries. Come on in so we can help get you back to good!
